Badass Breastfeeders Project Week 1:

So I want to start out this post by saying thank you to all of the amazing mamas who help to make the Badass Breastfeeders of Denver Facebook group so successful. I would not have felt nearly as confident breastfeeding my son if I was not connected to this group. I went into labor two days before I was supposed to attend my breastfeeding class at MMC. I was so unsure at first and we struggled with weight loss, sleepy eating, vasospasms, yeast, on top of all the other things that come along with being a new mother. Being from Texas with most family and friends back home I had no real "village" around. But I found this group and it truly helped me through the hardest times. I am so happy that this project is helping me put faces to names and begin to get to know these awesome women! Here are some of my favorites from this week!

My Heart Outside Of My Body

Of course, my first subject is my one and only Lincoln. His second birthday occurred right after I obtained my precious d90. Here are some of my favorite shots so far:

A Mom With A Camera: An Introduction To The Painted Lady

Hello, Internets! Welcome to The Painted Lady. My name is Chelsey Smith. I live in beautiful Golden, CO and I am mother to 2yo Lincoln and wife to James. I am a stay at home mom. I have struggled juggling my full-time wife/mother identity and finding time to still maintain a sliver of personal identity. My husband also struggles with his identity as sole provider for our little family. The pressure is real ya'll. I have always found photography to be a creative outlet for me. From the first time I took Black and White photography as a freshman in college I fell in love with capturing those moments that melt your heart. For a long time I did not have a DSLR, but I still loved catching snaps on my smart phone. I recently found an amazing deal on a Nikon D90 and am finally ready to step up my game! I have created this blog to share my photography with the world. Or at least those who care enough to look. This is not a business at this time, although I hope and dream that someday I can help support my family through my photography adventures!
